Lake Superior Challenge 2012: Completed

Once upon a sunny January day, there were two Finns that decided that Lake Superior was looking very calm and inviting.

And since they had so much fun in January, they decided they'd do it again.  Every month of the year.  Thus, the Lake Superior Challenge was born: swim in the lake every single month of 2012.

February.

Most of the snow was gone by the end of March..

No Problem!

We ALMOST forgot about April, but a quick evening trip to the Breakers fixed that.

May.  Now it's starting to get really easy.

June: we swam at Camp Lahti while counseling at Confirmation Camp.

July: Post Canal-run bonfire and swim.

August: Beach Croquet and Swimming

September: Camping at Keystone Bay.
New location!

Celebratory handstand

By October, the lake was REALLY starting to cool off again.

Not bad for having a broken arm..

November: Thanksgiving Break sauna and swim

And, December: a very fitting finale.
"Coffee's gettin pretty hot"
"yup"
"Lake's gonna be cold"
"Mm hmm"

Nothin special going on here, just hauling a ladder..

The ladder: our lifeline

12 months of ice cream headaches.

Dane's turn.

Perfect diving board/launch pad

Ice immediately forming as soon as the sun went behind the clouds..  that's some cold water.

12 months in the Lake.
Who's up for another 12?

Summer

Summer includes many different things, including new jobs..

Waking up early for work, which I didn't mind that much on mornings like this:

Got to see some "wildlife"

Concerts..

Cliff jumping is always a highlight..

And what would summer be without some croquet at Misery Bay?
